Barriers to AI Adoption in Medicine

Healthcare is at a very interesting crossroads right now. Between the fact that large players like Amazon and Apple are forming strong partnerships and purchasing healthcare related companies and the morphing acquisition landscape, there are a lot of moving parts. It is hard to keep up.

One of the main points to draw from all this is that there are loads of people, startups, and corporations that are pushing to merge technology with healthcare in very interesting ways. Healthcare will look much different

in the next 10 to 20 years. With that said, it is imperative for the hospital networks to start looking at innovation as a means to improve margins and to stay relevant. Though it will take a lot to close up shop, there is market share up for grabs.

The lack of foresight for innovation is something that will hurt many healthcare providers. There is a need to become more efficient, to reduce waste, and to improve patient experience. Innovation is knocking, and it is up to those in power to embrace it.

Hopefully, innovation can be viewed as an enabler, and not a barrier.
